Labé and the Fouta Djallon Region

Fouta Djallon is a tropical region in the middle of the Guinee also known as the water hole of West Africa. Included in our overland tour we had a two day excursion to a mountain village there, riding 4*4 wheel drives that should have been retired some thousand kilometers ago.

Once we were there we were catered for with plenty of food, simple accommodation and some guided walks in the village and around the nearby mountains. I think that the scenery was not as spectacular as I had hoped but we got to see and swim by a couple of waterfalls and saw the famous Pont du Pierre, which was a natural rock bridge that stretched over the river. On the last day we did a 14kilometer long hike which also was good as we would spend the next three days driving to the border of Guinea Bissau.
