Panama City was a place I did not know much about, so I just went straight from the airport to the only place I knew; the Panama Canal. The Miraflores visitors center had a good museum with a movie explaining everything and then a viewpoint where you could watch ships going through the waterlocks from above. Then I got a rental bike to cycle the famous cycle route “Cinta Costera” which was a great one hour ride where I got a good view of the Skyline.
In the evening I went for 50cent (!) beers in the historical center Casco Viejo at the “Relic Bar” before me and my new hostel friends moved out to the clubbing district in Calle Uruguay.
On my second day I was messaged by one of my instagram followers called @everyday_traveler who said he was in town with a rental car and offered me to come along. We then headed back to the Miraflores Locks, hiked up to Ancon Hill, had lunch in Avenida Central and finished in Panama Viejo (old Panama) where skyscrapers and ruins were standing pretty close to each other. For a city that I knew nothing about it had quite a bit to offer!
