Blue Eye and the Gjierokastër Fortress

Driving from Montenegro to Greece, we got to have some stops along the way in addition to Tirana. First off was the Gjierokastër Fortress- a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A fortress built during the Ottoman rule in Abania.

Next up was the Blue Eye, a naturalt spring that had a spot said to be 50 meters deep. The water was clear and ice cold coming from the underground and it is something I have only seen matched in Bonito, Brazil and Silfra in Iceland which draws lots of tourists. Here it was just us and a few locals hanging around and a dip in the ice cold water was a great way of breaking up our long driving journey through Albania.
