Day 1, December 1st, 2022: Arrival in Addis Ababa

• Arrive at any time in Addis Ababa transfer is included to where we will stay.
• If you arrive by 8pm you will have a meet and greet session and be given a pre-trip briefing at our hotel. If you arrive too late for this, we will give you a one to one briefing when you arrive, or at the latest at breakfast at the hotel the next morning.
• Depending on your arrival time, a short evening sightseeing in Addis Ababa could be arranged so that you can have a glance at this huge metropolis of modernity and history at night.

Overnight in Lucy Guest House, 1,5km from the airport and 3,5km from the city center.

Day 2, December 2nd, 2022: Sightseeing in Addis Ababa

• After breakfast we will be touring the main sights of Addis.
• We will use a variety of transport depending on what’s fastest

Day 3, December 3rd, 2022: Addis Ababa- Awash-Mille-Semera

• We will wake up early and drive a full day
• We will stop, mainly for food and stretches but also for sights on the way
• The drive will finish in Semera, the capital of the Afar region

Day 4, December 4th, 2022: Semera- Hamedela

• We will wake up early and be met by our excellent 4WD with AC along a team of experienced drivers, expert guides, an excellent cook team, local guide and road leader from the tourism authorities and a police escort
• We will carry all camping gear with us to stay self sufficient during our days in the desert
• You will get 6 liters of water for hydration, which could be needed during the day
• Our first drive will be directly to Hamedela town of Dallol where we will see the Sunset at Lake Assale late in the afternoon.

We will sleep on comfortable, clean mattresses with pillows and bedsheets in a million star hotel (meaning open air). A foldable bed can be arranged for those who don’t want to sleep on the ground

Day 5, December 5th, 2022: Hamedela- Erta Ale

Early in the morning before sunrise we drive to the lunar landscape of Dallol geothermal site for an amazing wonder seen no where else in the planet. A chemical reaction happening right in front of you live face to face with row nature. You will revise your knowledge of colors from that moment on. After this we drive to the salt and mud formed mountain cave right underneath Dallol crater. Another 10 minutes drive and a completely different world. We will have a picnic breakfast in nearby this cave with wonder. After this visit we drive to the vast salt plains , the lake Karum swimming saltwater cold pool in that scorching sun and finally visit the salt miners before leaving back to Hamedela for some rest and after lunch we continue driving to Ertale active volcano. We reach our camping ground at the top of the Caldera. Walk 30 minutes until the summit crater lake currently at its active cycle. Enjoy the wonder happening right in front of you and walk back to the camping ground. We leave for the volcano around 5:30Pm late in the afternoon and walk back after visiting around 8:00PM.

Overnight in open air camping on a flat ground with suitable mattress , pillow, clean bedsheets and quite environment.

Day 6, December 6th, 2022: Erta Ale-Semera

In the morning wake up with the sun and after breakfast drive to Afdera salt lake town. The major hub for salt production and distribution lying at -102m below sea level and the highest temperature feeling in the Danakil depression. Have lunch in town, a glimpse of the salt lake, a walk along the salt farms and after this we drive back to Semera. In the afternoon we visit Allalobad hot spring Geysers at a wonderful site close to Semera. Upon arrival in Semera we will finish our Danakil depression tour.

Overnight in Semera Aramis Hotel. Or take an afternoon flight back to Addis as you prefer.

Day 7, December 7th, 2022: Semera- Bati- Kombolcha- Addis Ababa

• We will wake up early and have a full day driving back to Addis Ababa
• We will stop, mainly for food and stretches but also for sights on the way
• The drive will finish in Addis Ababa, where we will check into our hotel

Overnight in Lucy Guest House, 1,5km from the airport and 3,5km from the city center.

Day 8, December 8th, 2022: Addis Ababa departure day

• Wake up whenever you want
• The tour is finished and you may depart any time
• Hop on your included transfer back to the airport
