I had arranged a couch surf at a small village outside of Larnaca called Kiti, where there were not much more than a few small shops, taverns and a beach small enough for tourists to keep away, but the next morning when I headed to Larnaca I felt like I was in the middle of a Greek package holiday. The district of Finnikoudes had a beach promenade full of sun chairs, fast-food restaurants and fancy restaurants. On the way I had passed a Salt Lake that was normally completely solid in the summers, but this year it was all like a normal lake..
Taking the bus to Limassol it was mainly highway, and the town itself was just a repetition of Larnaca with its beach promenade and restaurants. The main thing differing the two was an old castle built in the middle of the city and some nice, more local cafe streets. I will be looking forward to getting away from the tourist crowds when I get to Paphos tomorrow.
